Who we are

Web Writers Collective (WWC) is a Signal group for people who write on the web to chat about the culture of writing on the web, and to connect with (and maybe even collaborate with) like-minded writers.

If you are interested in writing, or who actively write, on the web, you may like WWC.

What we do

You might join the group to talk about—

• Writing projects you’re working on that you would like feedback on
• The culture of writing on the web: what to share, how to share, who to share with
• Working through a specific challenge, i.e. how to articulate an idea, finding inspiration, working through writer’s block.
• Community events you’re participating in, i.e. the Bear Blog Carnival.

We especially welcome people who write fiction, stories, creative non-fiction, poetry, life writing, personal blog posts, and everything in between.

Who we are not

Please note that our community is not for—

• Sharing your blog set-up or features on your blog
• Announcing or self-promoting your blog posts
• Technical writing

Spaces already exist on the web for such activities. At WWC we like to keep our focus on our writing.

What is Anthologies?

Anthologies is out community zine. We are just getting started with it and hope to publish it as issues, possibly quarterly and possibly themed. It will carry contributions from WWC members and, for the time being at least, will be online-only. Like everything else in WWC, the future of Anthologies will be shaped by existing members of the collective.

Credit for the name of our zine is due to Juhis who originally came up with ‘Web Writers’ Collective Anthology’. We all really liked it and it stuck.

How we’re run

We are still getting set up, but we intend to keep WWC community-run. James is helping get the community set up. V.H. Belvadi is helping get our website set up. All members are free to propose projects, share ideas, and help guide the group while keeping it a fun, safe, thoughtful and interesting place to spend time on the web.

WWC is invite-only for the moment as we set an initial direction for the community. We also believe in the importance of having private spaces where people can freely discuss their writing. See our community guidelines for more information.
